About Kelly
Coffee-drinking, dog-obsessed creative, former workaholic now channeling my ADHD energy into portraits of pets and the people who love them.
I’ve spent most of my career looking at people and telling their stories through film and images—first as a designer, then as a creative director and researcher. I’ve worked alongside photographers and studios since the ’80s, from Polaroid test shots and medium-format film to large commercial shoots.
History
I started taking portraits in high school, learning by working for and watching photographers. At Northwestern, I photographed for The Daily Northwestern, got my first press pass, and turned my dorm room into an unofficial headshot studio for friends.
Later in Los Angeles, I worked alongside and art directed photographers on everything from Infiniti car shoots to portraits for movie posters. I kept photographing travel, family, friends and everyday life—first on film and Fuji slides, then digitally.
Since returning to Seattle in 2020, I’ve come back to photography in a much more personal way. There’s no debating how amazing the iPhone is at capturing a spontaneous moment—and letting us share it instantly with family and friends.
But after covering dozens of events and hundreds of portraits and sessions, I realized there’s still something different about a high-end image crafted by eye, light and glass. It’s not just the size of the image, but the quality of it. When done right, a photograph feels like a piece of art—something worthy of framing, displaying and keeping.
My approach is relaxed and editorial. We might need a few tries to get things right. Authentic moments are my favorites—capturing a memory in motion and bringing it to a kind of eternal stillness in a single frame.
I’m here to capture your memories, in the most magical way possible.
